Sewer Back Up in Fenton, MO

Sewer backups can occur for many different reasons. It could be overcharged sewer lines, blocked sewer lines, lateral line problems, or overland flooding. Many different factors go into each of these situations.

The Metropolitan Sewer District will take responsibility in certain situations. MSD will take responsibility for overcharged sewer lines and a blocked sewer line that is in the main sewer line.

The Metropolitan Sewer District will not take responsibility if your private lateral line backups. Your private lateral line runs from your home to the street, and everything between those two areas is up to the homeowner to maintain. It is a good practice to have your private lateral line cleared annually as a preventative measure.
